The whole thing was fucked up from the beginning. The weather was terrible, visibility down to zero, blowing snow at the top of the mountain made it hard to walk. The only solution was to strap on your board and drop over the cornice. Trouble was no one had checked the snow pack. So dropping in was a gamble. However it was a classic case of you pays your money and takes your chances.

So drop in I did.

What I thought would be particularly light and fluffy snow turned out to be boilerplate ice and my stylish landing quickly became a wind milling yard sale of a wipe out. When it was over my shit was spread so far up the mountain that I gave up on recovering hats goggles and other assorted paraphernalia and just rode out to the base and went home.
