Not snow, not icebergs.....
Finally managed to pull off a session, and what an amazing session! I arrived at Grandview and it didn't *look* like much (big mistake). Went out and came right back to shore for more downhaul a couple times. Managed to snap a downhaul line trying to get max downhaul. I was thoroughly overpowered and would have enjoyed it more if it was the middle of the season, but being the first time it was just too much. Joel probably saw the look of terror on my face as a gust picked me and my equipment off the water and slammed me. Third time back to shore more outhaul and a smaller fin and it was almost manageable. I should have rigged down to a small board and a 6.0 with what I found out after the fact were gusts to 30 knots but I didn't have the energy left after fighting with the equipment. And worse yet, this morning I wimped out of a dawn patrol session but wimped out due to the -1 air temp. What's wrong with me ??? ;-)
