Fuck it's minus 29 with wind-chill today. This country is a nightmare. How did the first settlers here ever survive...... Well I guess a lot of them didn't The popular culture here is that winter is Quebec and Quebec is winter. That's the difference north of the border. Winter is an all consuming test of survival thing. One time my truck broke down new years eve minus 30 outside middle of the country. I walked to the nearest chalet. The granny inside would not even open her door, to scared I guess. I was freezing "at least call Ryan's garage in Wakefield!" I yelled not sure if she did call or not I stumbled back to the truck and in typical fashion poked at some stuff under the hood and miraculously it worked. Saved from hypothermia.



Anyways all this is hard to take for me. There was a time when cold was 8000 miles away. Winter meant huge swells on the north shore and fluky Kona winds.



Island paradise seems far away now. Although like most things in life the grass is always greener. Just when you can't take the rock anymore, same old bullshit "Fuck you haole" Astronomical housing costs limited work options mainland family & friends so far away. All of a sudden you've changed your life around and its minus 25 howling north wind, the only surf is that powder your putting in your broken washing machine and suddenly your missing all that you thought you were sick of.





Damn!
