Sooooooo….. floating between the Queen Charlotte islands via some sort of cable car talking to strangers who seem mostly disinterested in what I have to say. They slowly drift away and never come back, leaving me wondering why? Eventually the cable car arrives at the the slopes of Mt Baker south of Vancouver, where it ascends the backside of the mountain, which is strangely devoid of snow. I point out the legendary backcountry powder run called “Hemispheres” to nobody in particular. Then I watch as a few skiers descend down the icy rocky run. Finally my cable car arrives at the bas station where I am told to get off. It’s a sad lodge more reminiscent of a gas bar shack than a grand mountain lodge. “wait here” the attendant says, then he too disappears.

I am alone
