Sandies No Ka OiSo your at the Wave, again. It’s well past 3am you’ve been pounding curveza’s and grinding on the dance floor. The Commodores are belting it out.

“She's a brick….. house
Mighty might just lettin' it all hang out
She's a brick….. house
The lady's stacked and that's a fact,
ain't holding nothing back”

You grab your girl and head for the exits. You pile into your 72 Concours wagon somehow one of your drinking buddies takes the wheel. You and your girl are on the back bench seat sliding from door to door as he wildly careens down the streets of Waikiki.

“The clothes she wears, the sexy ways,
make an old man wish for younger days
She knows she's built and knows how to please
Sure enough to knock a man to his knees”

Somehow you make it home. You all stumble up stairs where the last thing you remember is trying to unhook a bra.

“she knows she got everything
A woman needs to get a man, yeah.
How can she lose with what she use
36-24-36, what a winning hand!”

Now its morning and by the looks of things you succeeded at your tasks last night. You have a pounding head-ache. You stumble for some shorts and slippa’s and drive your girl home. There is only one cure for a hangover like this.

"She’s a brick.....house
She’s the one, the only one,
Who’s built like a amazon
We’re together everybody knows,
And here’s how the story goes"

As you kiss her goodbye the tunes are still buzzing in your ears. You check the back of your wagon and spot what you need, an old Scott bodyboard and a pair of ratty Curchhill fins. You pull out past Diamond Head and blaze down the Kalanianiole highway. Once past Hanauma bay the land turns into a moonscape of lava rock. Then you crest over Koko head and there it is, coated in a salt spray mist, Sandy beach. You pull in to the lot grab your gear, dart past the local boyz drinking Budweiser in the back of huge oversized Toyota trucks. You keep your eyes on the swell as last nights tunes still ring in your ears.

"Shake it down, shake it down now"

You slip on your fins and ease into the cool water. Immediately a huge set leaps up from the deep blue you dive as low as the shallow sand allows and feel the tug as the powerful swell sweeps across your horizontal body. You pop up outside the break but still only ten feet off the beach. Another set marches in. you let the first two pass and they clean out all the tourists and kooks floating in the impact zone. The third wave lifts you up as it jacks on the shallow sand, you give a couple of powerful kicks and take two strong strokes before shifting your weight to the front of the board. Immediately the bottom drops out of the wave and your staring straight down a 12 foot drop into 1 inch of water. You arc your board sideways and careen down the face. The wave throws out over top of you as you cruise into the green room. You rush along in the vortex of spinning sand mixed with blue pacific then the whole thing just collapses into itself with you at the centre of the vortex. You bubble up to the surface. Push off the sand slip under a few waves then float leisurely on the outside waiting to do it all again.

Hangover cured

"Shake it down, shake it down now
Shake it down, shake it down now"

“She's a brick….. house
Mighty might just lettin' it all hang out
She's a brick….. house
The lady's stacked and that's a fact,
ain't holding nothing back”

Life in Paradise.
