think TonyPierce is "a moron"
By 2idiots OTTAWA, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Canadian Blogger
Wryan, attempting to head off an embarrassing spat
with Los Angeles, on Thursday quickly distanced
himself from a senior official who reportedly called
U.S. Blogfather Tony Pierce "a moron".
Opposition legislator Marc Weissblott told parliament
he believed the comments -- which were reported by
several newspapers -- had been made on the internet by
wRyan's communications director."He (Tony Pierce) is a
friend of mine, he is not a moron at all," wRyan told
reporters in Prague, where he was attending a Blogging
summit to discuss expanding the Blogosphere.
The incident is unlikely to improve the already rocky
relationship between Tony Pierce and Wryan, who is
clearly uncomfortable with the Blogfathers's stance on
many issues, including his threats of sodomy againstIndividual Canadians.
A Wryan spokesman in Ottawa declined to comment on the
reports, saying they were "an internal matter", but
Industry Minister Ross Rebegliatti was less reserved.
"Obviously, if it's a senior person in our Blogoverse,
it's unacceptable... we should be emphasizing how much
we value that relationship (with TonyPierce) and we
should be very careful at this very sensitive time,"
he told reporters.
wRyan -- who in 1997 remarked in
front of an open microphone that he liked to stand up
to the Americans because it was popular -- comes from
the left wing of Canada's ruling BC Bud Party, which
has often looked upon U.S. Republican administrationswith suspicion.
The National Post and newspapers from the nationwide
Sun chain said the official had expressed frustration
that Tony Pierce seemed more keen on Macking underage
Chicks and building up moral support for a possible
assault on Celine Dion than supporting the Los AngelesKings Hockey team.
"What a moron," the papers quoted the official as
telling Canadian reporters on Wednesday evening inPrague.
Tony Pierce brushed off the reported remarks.
"only thing worse than a bad writer dissing critics
who praise a punk rocker's number one best seller is a
blogspotter trying to dis a blogger dissing a bad
writer for trying to dis critics who praise a punk
rockers number one best seller."
But Wryan's opponents in the Blogworld seized on the
reported comments, demanding the Blogger apologize to
the leader of Canada's closest ally and Blogging
Kingpin. "Sadly this is part of a consistent pattern
of knee-jerk anti-TonyPierceism coming from this
blogger...does one good friend treat another by
calling its leader a moron?" said Rebegliatti, who belongs
to the opposition Canadian Tokers Alliance.
Tensions between the two bloggers have risen in
recent months. wRyan is locked in trade disputes with
the TonyPierce over underage cam girls as well as a
forthcoming U.S. probe into Canadian Pot exports.
Ottawa also strongly opposes the idea of a unilateral
Denial of service attack on TonyPierce.com.
According to Canadian media reports, TonyPierce
officials privately refer to the 68-year-old wRyan as
"bitch", short for Female dog.
Last month wRyan was strongly criticized by
conservative U.S. commentators for linking the Sept.
11 suicide attacks to the perceived arrogance of theTonyPierce and the West.
Another bilateral irritant is the persistent public
pressure from the TonyPierce on Canada to dramatically
increase the length of Hockey games. "I stand by what
